We recently had the opportunity to chat with Eli Garrett, Media Systems Engineer at Wycliffe Bible Translators, a global nonprofit based in Orlando, Florida.

About Wycliffe Bible Translators

Wycliffe Bible Translators is a nonprofit with a mission to translate the Bible into every language spoken in the world. The organizations also assists with literacy and language development causes.

With leaders and team members spread to remote locations around the world and an understanding of the importance of good communication, the production team at Wycliffe has been tasked with delivering quality events from their offices in Orlando.

Why The BoxCast + The BoxCaster Pro

According to Garrett, the team at Wycliffe has years of experience streaming their events with a variety of providers. They had never been satisfied and were looking for more. When they went on the search for a new provider they were looking for:

An HEVC hardware encoder with a monitoring screen, which could be started and managed in the cloud, and the ability to connect to the internet via ethernet or wifi.

HEVC (find out more) was the most important factor because they stream in locations that don't have ideal internet connections sometimes.

Since starting with BoxCast, their live streaming performance has improved, and their workflow has become easier and more streamlined.

Workflow and Setup

The production setup includes three cameras and audio console feeding into a Blackmagic ATEM Switcher which is connected to the BoxCaster Pro via SDI.

Once the stream is complete, they keep the recorded video for later viewing.

In the past, they would record locally, upload file to Vimeo. With BoxCast, they take the cloud recording, trim it, and export directly to Vimeo all from the BoxCast Dashboard.

Favorite Feature of the BoxCaster Pro

The team's favorite feature of the BoxCaster Pro is the HEVC compression. It's been a game changer for the quality of stream they get from their network.
